The People You Meet
Taylor Nichols and his friend Marc Gnomes stopped along side the road to make sure I was okay, and wouldn’t you know it they were at the hostel in Mitchell. Taylor has a podcast called “Bike Talk” and I highly recommend it for all bicyclists. Sorry Marc, I don’t have a pic of you. Please send one and I’ll include it here.

Steve Cross gave me a ride to Bates State Park when I knew I had had enough of hill climbing for the day. Thank You
Kyle, the campground manager who stopped and saved this pathetic looking biker from having to walk a second mountain pass on that day. By the way, it only took me three hours to walk the first one.

The husband and wife (J&J) who gave me a ride into Baker City, Oregon when my mind and body were both screaming you need a day off.
And then there is Pam and friend Janet who asked if they could sit at the same table in the shade while eating ice cream at Charlie’s in Baker City. Before I knew it I was invited to to dinner at Pam’s and that homecooked meal was so delicious and the conversation was so upbeat.

I write about all these people because there are those who can make your day and allow you to reflect on the good that does exist in our world.
